What the app does
VoiceToRead uses your iPhone or iPad microphone when you explicitly start listening, resume a session or record a pronunciation exercise. It creates English or Spanish captions using supported on-device recognition. VoiceToRead does not upload microphone recordings or transcripts to a developer server and has no remote recognition fallback.
Saving session audio is initially enabled on a new installation. You can turn it off before starting; existing choices are remembered. Saving and noise-reduction choices apply to the next session once recording has begun. Background continuation is initially off. If enabled, the microphone may remain active while the screen is locked or another app is open, until you pause, stop or the system interrupts it. The app captures nearby microphone sound, not other apps' internal audio.
Information kept on your device
Final captions, optional recordings, titles, dates, language, caption timing, corrections, translations, reading position, bookmarks, study expressions and favorite protection are stored locally. Provisional captions and the live translation preview are temporary; the live translation preview is not automatically saved. App preferences and personal vocabulary use device preferences.
Sessions are saved incrementally as recovery drafts. After stopping, Save Session keeps the draft in your library; Discard deletes it. Unfinished drafts remain available after reopening. Corrections keep original recognition separately and never change the recording. Favorites protect against deletion through the app until you explicitly remove protection; they are not backups.
Session files and pronunciation takes are excluded from device backup. Preferences may follow system backup settings. Uninstalling VoiceToRead or losing the device can remove local sessions, including favorites. Export copies you need to keep.
Pronunciation practice
Practice takes are short, temporary recordings started by you. They stay on your device and are removed on retry, exercise change, leaving practice or entering the background. Abandoned takes are cleaned up on the next launch. Optional local word recognition shows recognized words; no online pronunciation assessment service receives the recording.
Apple services and permissions
Microphone permission is required to capture speech. Speech Recognition permission is requested when required by the recognition engine. Preparing speech, translation or synthetic voice resources may require Internet through Apple's system services. Installed compatible resources allow local processing, subject to device and language availability. Check readiness before relying on offline use.
Optional translation uses Apple's Translation framework. Apple documents that it may collect API usage/performance metrics, but not original or translated content. VoiceToRead adds no third-party translation provider. System services are also governed by Apple's privacy practices.
Sharing, retention and deletion
Copying, exporting and sharing happen when you choose them. The destination app or service may transmit, retain or sync the exported text, audio or subtitles under its own policies. Deleting a VoiceToRead session does not delete exported copies or clipboard contents.
Local sessions stay until you delete/discard them or remove the app. To delete a favorite or its audio, remove its protection first, then confirm deletion. You may delete audio while keeping text and subtitle timing. Personal vocabulary can be cleared in Settings. Deletion is logical deletion, not a promise of forensic secure erasure.
Tracking, children and support
VoiceToRead has no required account, advertising, tracking or developer analytics. Reading and language practice can be used with adult guidance by children; there are no social profiles or public sharing feeds inside the app. Device permissions and exported content should be managed by the supervising adult.
If you contact support outside the app, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to answer your request. Please do not send private recordings or other people's personal information. Support is handled through Gmail at dariofernandomeneses@gmail.com. Messages are used to respond to requests and are deleted from the support mailbox within 90 days after resolution, unless a legal obligation requires retention. Provider backup deletion follows Google’s processes. Do not send passwords or sensitive recordings. You can request access, correction or deletion of information you supplied by writing to the same address. We cannot access or remotely delete sessions on your device.
This website
The public website is hosted by Hostinger. Its pages do not include advertising, analytics scripts, embedded media, tracking cookies or contact forms. Hosting infrastructure may process connection data such as IP address, requested page, date and browser information to deliver and secure the site. These technical records are subject to the hosting configuration and Hostinger’s privacy policy; they are separate from the app’s local recordings and transcripts. Email support is also subject to Google’s privacy policy. Following an external link takes you to that provider’s service.
